R.I.P. Mr. Jones (AKA The Possum)

GeorgeJones1I can remember as a young man listening to George Jones playing on 8 tracks and vinyl. It wasn’t me playing the music, it was everyone else it seemed. The guy was HUGE and destined for huge things no doubt.

It took me many years to realize that he was indeed a gifted entertainer/songwriter.  I don’t think the world will soon forget how much of an impact he had on us all.

Waylon Jennings once wrote a song that said, “George might show up flyin’ high, if George shows up at all/But he may be, unconsciously, the greatest of them all.”

In a statement today, Merle Haggard said, “The world has lost the greatest country singer of all time. Amen.”

Jones, a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, was honored by the Kennedy Center in 2008 and received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012.

So This Gentleman Approached Me Today

And We’re Back!

ywb After a brief time-out we are back up and running. The full site will take some time. Please keep checking back. The site seems much more responsive than before.

I wouldn’t expect bit-rot to ever be an issue on a linux box, there were way too many useless plug-ins installed by some previous admins. There were some that just plain didn’t work or were broken and a pita to uninstall. And then there were others that weren’t being used at all anymore. But yet the still consumed resources.

So the current plan is to adhere to K.I.S.S principals if that’s even possible on this platform. We’ll see.
